About Me...
I was raised in Horn Lake, Mississippi (about 5 miles from Memphis, Tennessee). I was a tomboy growing up and loved playing sports, going to church and singing along with every television commercial and song that I heard (which at that time was Southern Gospel music and Country - thanks to my parents). When I was in around 8th grade, my parents got tired of hearing me singing badly so they put me in vocal lessons and God used music to change my life completely!
I grew up with two brothers that are a good bit older than me. One of my older brothers went to Mississippi State University in Starkville, Mississippi and I grew up knowing I wanted to be a MSU Bulldog (Go Dawgs!) I attended MSU and graduated in 2005 with a degree in Communication with an emphasis in Public Relations. While in school, I faced many challenges that tested my faith, but I always found peace in God. In 2004, I began an internship working in Communications & Media for First Baptist Church of Starkville. During that time, my office was about five feet away from Michael. Michael and I met while working together, but also by both being members of a praise band for the college ministry at church.
Michael and I got married in May of 2007 and moved to Austin for him to start a job as a Technical Support Representative for a company called faithHighway. faithHighway had been the company we used for our church website while at First Baptist Church of Starkville. Three months later, I joined him at faithHighway as an account manager. I have now been at faithHighway since October 2007 and I love it. I love the interaction I have with clients and love helping churches reach the lost and others in their community.
A Few Things to Remember & Check Out While Building Your Website...
1. We are working on building you an awesome looking website! Now what are you going to do to get people to see it? Talk about it from the pulpit all the time, put the web address on everything you do (i.e. The screen on Sunday mornings, business cards, letterhead, billboards, advertisements, etc.). Don't just rely on people to search for it, put it out there in front of them.
2. Want to know some things that are going to run people away from your website? Check out Tony Morgan's article here.
3. Here are a couple of fun websites to keep you on your toes with Church Marketing and Church Media: www.mediaoutreach.com www.churchmarketingsucks.com www.collidemagazine.com
4. Online tools that I think are essential for you all to use: www.twitter.com (see www.twitter.com/faithhighway) www.facebook.com www.planningcenteronline.com
5. Trying to find awesome graphics to use in your content, but you need them to be FREE? Check out www.creativemyk.com!
Why You Want to Work With Me...
I have been in your shoes. While at FBC Starkville, I was the person entering the content and had never done that before. I work to be very informative and reliable for my clients and am very detail oriented. It bothers me to have emails in my inbox that I have not responded to and I very much care that my clients are happy and that they love their website and have it live just as soon as we possibly can get it there! I have worked to get over 320 clients live since my start with faithHighway and that number grows larger every day.
